PA State Budget Impasse, just venting my frustration...

So, here we are in Pennsylvania…July 20... Nearly three weeks into the new fiscal year with out a budget in sight. How do we get to this point each and every year?
*
Why is there ALWAYS this struggle? What is the problem? The people who elected you would like to know. Do you even remember that YOU are accountable to US?
*
How is it that the employees of this commonwealth will not be getting their next paycheck, yet you expect them to show up for work? I can tell you that I am sure it would be an inconvenience for the citizens of this state if the offices were shut down, however, I honestly think on this issue we side with the state workers. NO PAY, NO WORK. Could you even imagine how any private employer in this state would be treated if they attempted to withhold pay for work performed? The same rules and laws that apply to them should apply to you.
*
I believe that our legislature should be working around the clock, literally not figuratively, on our budget. If you can’t pay your workers then you should not be collecting per diems. If you can’t do your job and vote a BALANCED BUDGET then you don’t get paid either. For each day we are without budget, you forfeit a days wages, no retroactive collecting, sorry about your luck. We are fed up with the politics, the lies, half truths and the good old you scratch my back and I will scratch yours. I recall an election not so long ago when you were sent a message loud and clear after voting yourselves a raise in the middle of the night. I guess you forgot the message, I hope we send it again.
*
We are fed up with higher taxes, we have had enough. Cut the existing programs, if you can’t pay for a new one no matter how great it is then we will have to survive without it.
We are constantly being told that times are tough. Guess what? We know it! Some of us are unemployed at the moment, so I don’t know how you think an increase in the income tax is going to help. No income = no taxes, not exactly rocket science. We have been advised to tighten the belt, cut back, do more with less. How about this… TAKE YOUR OWN ADVICE!
*
I am tired of going to work day after day to feed a tax monster that hands out what I work for to people who CAN work but CHOOSE to not work. How about some personal responsibility and accountability? People who are not enabled adapt to survive.
*
I am sick of MORE, MORE, MORE GOVERNMENT. It is time to downsize. Less politicians, fewer funding programs for every special interest that gets in line and puts their hand out. You take care of the basics and I am sure that there are talented individuals who are willing and able to do the rest and do it better than you are able to AND MAKE MONEY AT IT, rather than losing money at it.
*
What exactly have we gotten so far this fiscal year for our money? A lot of grief, aggravation and run around. So how about a budget Governor Rendell and Members of the PA State Legislature? Today would be nice, three weeks ago would have been perfect.

A Quote for you today...

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that, my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.” - Dr. Adrian Pierce Rogers

Any thoughts?

So Long Senator Specter!

In case you missed it Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania has officially switched from the Republican party to the Democrat party.

I can honestly say that I am glad to see him go. The conservative residents of Pennsylvania do not want you! You do not represent us anymore. There may have been a time when you did, but no more.

You bit the hands that elected you. What did you really expect of us? Did you honestly think that we would support you after you betrayed our trust?

It is my hope that the conservatives of Pennsylvania will go to the polls and oust this incumbent from the US Senate. We deserve a senator that will represent the ideals, opinions and views of the conservatives in this state, not one that gives us lip service and then votes in favor of the TRILLION dollar spending bill. Enough is enough!

Interesting in the News 3/24

Octuplets' Mom Accuses Nurses of Spying <--link to the news story

She has "let them go" can't say fired since she wasn't paying them. Honestly, what on God's green earth is she thinking??? Her mother is not helping, since she they are no longer getting along because the grandmother was honest about her feelings on her daughter's irresponsible decision to have 8 more children in addition to the six that she could not afford in the first place. Her father is going to Iraq to attempt to earn a living and help support the family? So in her incredible wisdom she lets the nurses go????? Angels in Waiting was going to provide around the clock care for 18 months for all 14 of the children.

Most sane people would look at their situation and say, gee, I have 6 kids already, 3 of which have some level of special needs. Is it REALLY responsible, fair to them, financially feasible to have 8 more??? Oh, wait, the working taxpayers will foot the bill... that's right!

Obama Has Meghan McCain's 'Support' <-- Link to article

I am a bit tired of her as well. She registered as a Republican for her father, not quite a good reason for most folks. Really though, what I want to comment on is the whole thing with Laura Ingraham. What Laura Ingraham said about Meghan McCain was SATIRE. Since McCain did intern work at Saturday Night Live one would think that she would understand what satire is. I am sure that she enjoyed all of the SNL satire of Sarah Palin during the presidential campaign.

Don't Take to McDonald's for Cinnamon Melts

Not much posting going on here. Not because I don't have alot to say, but my friends S & A (to protect the innocent!) were having a quick bite to eat this weekend at McDonald's and over my sweet tea and cinnamon melts they got an earful from me about so many topics that I can hardly remember all that we covered!

We talked about the stimulus, octo-mom, welfare, mortgages, being laid off, bank bailouts, the president, our representatives, food stamps, unions, my job, health care, the border, illegal immigrants, social security, retirement, foreign aid, border security, paying taxes.... and I am sure there are some more topics that we covered that I simply don't remember right now. I hope to touch on some of them in the future.

It felt good to get some of it off my chest. I think I could go on the road and do a comedy bit about it all, if it wasn't all so aggravating to me!

For now, since no one is reading this I will just have to rant on my own and stay away from the cinna-melts and sweet tea... yeah, like that is going to happen!

First Post

Not a very catchy title for my first blog.

I host a crafty blog for card making and scrapbooking, but honestly needed a place to vent about my thoughts on life and government and other frustrations of daily life. This is it. My little corner of the world.

I am a conservative. I make no apologies for it. You may not agree with what I have to say. I likely don't agree with all of your viewpoints either. Go get a blog if you want to share your views.

I just want to get out some of my frustrations at the moment. We are no where near middle class, the hubby and I, but we are doing fine. I have worked since I was 15 years old. I have associates degrees from a community college. Don't own our home. Hubby is laid off from his job right now.

I like conservative TV and radio... O'Reilly, Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage... all of them. Fox is where I listen to the news.

So, stay tuned, I have lots to say about lots of things...
